Spiced Apple Crisps

I am lucky enough to have apple trees in my garden, so as autumn approaches I take advantage of using apples as a key ingredient in my cooking.
These apple crisps are so simple yet tasty. What's even better is they're healthy - instead of grabbing a plain apple as a snack, reach out for these crispy spiced apple crisps. They're flavoured with gorgeous spices including nutmeg and cinnamon, as well as having some tanginess from the lemon juice.

After multiple attempts of these apple crisps at different thickness, oven temperatures and timings I think I have finally perfected them! Of course, all ovens cook slightly different so make sure to keep an eye on your crisps throughout the bake to ensure they don't burn. The good thing is that one apple goes a long way and the preparation is so quick, so if you do burn a few it is not the end of the world!

Good luck and remember to check on your crisps often whilst in the oven!

Ingredients:
(Small batch of approximately 20 crisps)
- 2 apples
- sprinkle of nutmeg
- sprinkle of cinnamon
- ½ a lemon
Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 110 degrees
2. Slice your apples thinly through the core so they're only a couple of millimetres thick.

3. Place the apple slices on a sheet of baking parchment on a baking tray.
4. Squeeze the juice of the lemon over the slices and sprinkle over the spices so that there is a coating on both sides of the slices.
5. Put the baking tray in the oven for 30 minutes - but remember to keep checking them!
6. Turn over the apple slices and bake for another 30 minutes.
7. Turn the oven off and allow them to dry and crisp up in the oven for a final 30 minutes.
These are great as a healthy snack on their own or as a dessert topping!
