French Cuisine: reviewing some restaurants I visited in France

Being a foodie meant a holiday in France was an ideal opportunity to explore numerous set menus and try the delicious French cuisine. We stayed at my grandparents house in a little village called Montagnac, whereby our closest beach was Mèze and this is where I tried my first restaurant of the holiday.

The restaurant 'L'Oscarine' was located right on the beach. It was lunch time so we all decided to have a little sharing starter of oysters. I've only tried oysters once before, which was when I visited San Francisco last summer. Despite being a keen fish lover and trying the combination of the oysters and vinaigrette, I am still not huge fan of oysters.

However, the main was delicious. I chose to have the 'catch of the day', which happened to be Dorade (also known as Sea Bream) accompanied by some mixed vegetables and quiche. Having enjoyed Dorade so much at this restaurant, I also tried it out later in the holiday at another restaurant called 'Le Jardin D' Héléna'. The picture below shows the Dorade from 'L'Ocarine', which I thought was the better of the two.

Another restaurant we visited for a 3 course set lunch was Côte Mas. My gastronomic experience included a starter of quinoa and tzatziki salad, followed by a deliciously flavoured duck dish and finished off with a peach melba desert.

But of course a true French holiday is not complete without Moules-Frites. Here is mine in a tasty white wine sauce that I indulged in at 'Les Saveurs De Thau' in Mèze.
